My impassioned 72-year-old Twitter pal, who goes by the name 42bkdodgr, would like to share his feelings about the incessant and very destructive games the GOP plays at our country’s expense, and that of the average American. I am more than happy to oblige.

But first, a personal note from 42bkdodgr:

Many of you may wonder why I chose to use the “ 72 year old friend” as the introduction to my Special Comments. I selected the moniker so readers could see that from my age and life experiences I give a different perspective to the issues of today.

Now for his Special Comment:

Anti Average American

A few weeks ago, frustrated about what I saw happening in Congress, I wrote "End The Game Playing".

I was happy to see, during the last couple of weeks, Sen. Reid finally decide to have separate votes on a series of important bills. Now average Americans could see whose interests Republicans really represented.

Republicans voted against an extension of Unemployment Insurance for millions of Americans until it was part of a bill that extended tax cuts for the rich. Republicans cared more about the rich than the unemployed. ( Republicans: Anti Average American)

With the cloture vote Republicans, prevented the DREAM Act from being passed, a bill that would enable children brought to America illegally, by their parents, a road to citizenship. With their NO votes, Republicans officially adopted a policy that innocent children shall pay for the sins of their parents. (Republicans: Anti Average American ).

Republicans defeated the 9/11 First Responders bill. The party that likes to wrap itself in the American flag when talking about 9/11, showed they have no compassion for the needs of the responders, who rushed into the Twin Towers to aid their fellow Americans when they were in need.

Sen. Kyl wants to delay the First Responders bill until next year for further discussion. I wonder how Sen. Kyl would have reacted if the first responders had asked, before entering the Twin Towers, what their health care coverage will be if they should get hurt or sick from the debris? (Republicans: Anti Average American )

Recently passed legislation that benefited the average American, such as Health Care Reform and Financial Reform, Republicans were against and now will try to repeal the bills. (Republicans: Anti Average American)

So I wonder when will those average Americans, who supported Republicans in the November election (which include Tea Party candidates elected under Republican banner), will wake up and realize that Republicans in Congress vote against your best interests and could care less about you.

Many thanks again for another thorough, relevant piece, 42bkdodgr. You often say what many of us are thinking and feeling, and we thank you for your unique perspective.
